A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the middle of a crowded pool at Van Cortlandt Park Thursday, police say.
According to authorities, the attack happened shortly after 5 p.m. They say the girl was groped, touched and assaulted by a man twice her age as she was playing in the water.
The alleged victim ran out of the pool and alerted a police officer. The officer was then able to apprehend the suspect, 36-year-old Miguel Quiles.
Police say Quiles has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, forcible touching and sexual assault. They say in 2005 Quiles also faced a sexual assault charge.
