A California man is accused of threatening a resident on Scribner Avenue in Norwalk, police say.

Police responded to a home at 7:30 a.m. Saturday for an unwanted person complaint.

The complainant told police that Patrick Norris, 26, was at the home unannounced from San Diego.

Officers found Norris on the back porch with a large machete.

They were able to secure the area and began speaking with Norris, who agreed to surrender.

While speaking to Norris, authorities learned he had been on the porch for six hours waiting for the victim with the intention of assaulting them with the machete.

Norris was taken into custody.

He was charged with criminal attempt at assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.

Norris is expected to appear in court Jan. 6.
