Police: Chinese food delivery driver fatally shot in Bridgeport

A Chinese food delivery driver was fatally shot Saturday night in Bridgeport, police said.
The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Boston and Palisade avenues.
Police said ShotSpotter alerted them to the gunfire at the scene.
Police said a 35-year-old man from Flushing, New York, was found lying on the ground next to an apartment building at 1525 Boston Ave.
He was declared dead at the scene.
No arrests had been made as of Sunday. Police said they are investigating several leads and are in the process of collecting surveillance video.
Residents said violence in the neighborhood is rampant and it must be curbed.
"Young man delivering food at work and he loses his life. My deepest condolences to the family, but we have a serious problem of violence in our community," said neighbor Tony Barr.
"You got these little young kids that's gangbangers and they're able to get guns and a lot of it has to do with the young generation. They don't care about hurting anyone. They don't care about killing anyone," said Eugene Dawson.
He worries fatal shootings will continue as long as guns remain readily available to people with and without permits.
"They can contain it to a point, but it will never stop," Dawson said.
