(AP) - The father of a Connecticut mayor hasbeen charged with stealing about $85,000 from prospective clientsof his Bridgeport gravestone business.
Seventy-two-year-old Richard Miron was arrested Saturday on afelony larceny charge and released on a $10,000 bond. He is thefather of Stratford Mayor James Miron.
Bridgeport police say Richard Miron, former owner of LakeviewMonument Co., stole the money from more than 50 people whocontracted with him to buy headstones. Police say many of thosecustomers never received their gravestones and never got theirmoney back.
Miron also has a third-degree larceny charge pending in asimilar case.
Miron could not be reached for comment. Mayor James Mirondeclined to comment.
Richard Miron is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on April 6.
