Police say they arrested a 20-year-old Danbury man for allegedly trespassing onto Ellsworth Avenue School property with a machete Thursday.

Derek Sotelo is charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, trespassing and breach of peace.

Police say a witness told them, a man and woman in an alleyway were attempting to jump a fence that led to the school playground.

They say that man, now identified as Sotelo, handed the woman a machete before going up the fence.

Police say the school safety advocate confronted Sotelo.

It is not known whether the woman involved is facing charges.
