Shelton police say that it is a "miracle" that no one was seriously hurt after a car plowed through a busy parking lot Wednesday night.
The incident happened on Wooster Street in Shelton when police and witnesses say an out-of-control vehicle drove into a lot that was busy with families heading to a carnival a block away at St. Joseph's Parish.
Officials say the car went through a metal fence and landed on top of five cars parked in the lot. A witness says that the car drove over a sidewalk and through a stop sign shortly before crashing.
Police say the driver was Stephen Darnell, 69, who suffered only minor injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
