Bridgeport police say the woman suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl is a New Haven resident.
Police say they expect to take the suspect into custody soon.
They say they spoke with the woman, who invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent.
A surveillance camera recorded the teen's daring escape, in which she rolled out of a moving car. In the video, the suspect's Toyota sedan is seen with rear-bumper damage and visible white foam, which is what police say helped witnesses point them toward the car in New Haven.
The surveillance cameras that recorded the incident were installed recently as part of the city's Safe Corridors program, which placed recording devices along routes many students must use to get to school.
Police say the driver offered to give the girl a ride to school. She reportedly got inside because it was cold. Then, police say the middle-aged female suspect sexually assaulted the teen.
