A Wolcott family on Wednesday said they are extremely worried as police search for their son who has been missing for more than a week.
Wolcott police say they have received multiple calls from residents saying they have seen 23-year-old Scott Basile. So far, none of those calls have proved fruitful.
According to police, Basile was last seen making a bank transaction on Jan. 3. His car, they say, was found crashed and abandoned in Stamford a few days later. After reviewing surveillance video, they determined that the person who fled the scene of that accident was not Basile.
Police add that they conducted a DNA swab of Basile's car, but haven't found any matching results.
In the meantime, Basile's family members say they are emotionally distraught, and it's unusual for him to be away for so long without saying anything. They say they're holding out hope for his safe return.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wolcott Police Department at 203-879-1414.
