A glass door at a Fairfield pharmacy was smashed in Wednesday during a burglary that resulted in stolen cough medicine, police say.
The front glass door of Unity Pharmacy on the Post Road was found smashed around 4 a.m.
Police say the incident is not related to the looting going on across the country.
An officer on patrol says he was doing his routine check of the buildings in the area when he saw the damage around 5 a.m.
Police say between seven and eight men broke into the store using a crowbar and removed over the counter cough medicine.
The owner was on scene after the incident to take inventory to determine what exactly was stolen.
Owner Naga Mulpuri says she's been in business for six years, and this is the first time they have ever been burglarized.
"You know, it touched my heart that customers made a call to just check that everybody is all right, I appreciate that," Mulpuri says.
Detectives are in the process of going through surveillance footage.
No arrests have been made.
