A Greenwich police officer has been arrested on domestic violence-related charges involving another officer, authorities said.
Steven Caldwell turned himself in to Connecticut State Police in Bridgeport on March 27.
According to the arrest warrant, police responded to a dispute on March 22 during which Caldwell allegedly took a female officer’s phone and refused to return it.
The warrant states that the two officers had a close friendship that became intimate.
The unidentified female officer claimed Caldwell became controlling and emotionally abusive, according to the warrant.
She had reportedly broken things off with Caldwell before the dispute, according to the warrant.
The warrant also alleges Caldwell was upset after learning the female officer was romantically involved with one of his friends.
During the incident, Caldwell was described as uncooperative and agitated, reportedly yelling “arrest me” to officers while refusing to return the phone, the warrant said.
Caldwell has been placed on administrative leave from the Greenwich Police Department while the incident is under investigation.
He faces charges of larceny, breach of peace, disorderly conduct and computer crime.
