Stamford police are searching for a man who they say set fire to a car last weekend.
In surveillance video, the suspect can be seen walking up to a car, pouring gasoline over it and lighting it on fire. The flames raged for several minutes early Sunday morning outside 30 Vassar Ave.
No one was hurt, but one resident says the car was parked atop a gas meter that, were there a leak, could have caused serious damage and possible casualties.
Police have not disclosed a motive, but say they believe it was not a random act.
Anyone with information on the suspected arsonist is asked to call Stamford police. The suspect faces charges of second-degree arson and reckless endangerment.
