West Haven police are asking for the public's help tracking down a woman who may have abandoned her dog which was later struck and killed by a car.
Animal control has released a flier showing the woman and her car.
Police say she recently visited the animal shelter and tried to give up her dog, but was told they couldn't take it.
Later that day, the dog was spotted wandering and was eventually hit by a car on Route 34.
