Police say they have identified the man whose body was found floating in a barrel in the Pequannock River Wednesday, but are not releasing his name.
According to police, a construction worker saw a 55-gallon drum floating in the river near the Stratford Avenue Bridge Wednesday. When police opened the barrel, officers found a body crammed inside with the feet cut off. Police say they identified the man by his tattoos, which were described by family members who called police after seeing several media reports.
The autopsy did not determine the exact cause of death, so more tests were conducted.
Bridgeport police say they will release more details once all of the man?s family has been notified.
