Police say a 22-year-old man may be responsible for shooting and killing a building security guard in the South Bronx Sunday.
According to police, Rasheen Gamble shot 35-year-old Brian McCray to death at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the Morrisania II apartments at 280 E. 161st St. Authorities say Gamble may have fled to North Carolina.
A tenant who lives on the building?s eighth floor told News 12 The Bronx he could hear the shooter reload what sounded like a shotgun several times. The tenant says he called 911 twice, but it took police at least 10 minutes before they arrived.
According to police, McCray was found shot to death inside the building. Another man was taken out of an apartment on a gurney. The condition of the second man is unknown.
Residents of the building say McCray had recently arrived in the Bronx and was originally from South Carolina. He was working as the building's security guard for just two days. McCray is survived by his wife and two children who still live in South Carolina.
NYPD officers ask anyone with information about Gamble?s whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
