Police in Bridgeport are renewing their efforts to solve two fatal shootings in the city.
Officials say the shootings are thought to be unrelated, but are similar because both victims were innocent bystanders.
Myoshi Bagley was shot and killed on Oct. 31 last year when gunfire broke out on Maplewood Avenue. Her family says she was a licensed cosmetologist, health care worker and a hard working mother.
Police say Edwin "Jeremy" Mangual, 30, was shot four weeks later on Laurel Avenue in the neck and torso.
Police Chief AJ Perez says investigators have been working hard to solve both slayings, but are having a hard time getting witnesses to come forward.
Pastor Kenneth Moales, of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, says he has been carefully following both cases. He says it will take trust and initiative on the public's part to get the cases solved.
He also says it's never easy getting people to break what people view as “code of the street,” but overcoming that obstacle is often the only way for families to get justice.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bridgeport police at 203-576-TIPS.
