Nassau County police continue to stand guard near the submerged yacht that sank off the coast of Long Island on the Fourth of July.
The 34-foot cabin cruiser capsized in Cold Spring Harbor, killing three children, David Aureliano and Harlie Treanor, both 12, as well as Victoria Gaines, who would have turned 8 today.
Authorities say they plan on raising the yacht over the weekend and are looking into what caused it to capsize. Detectives want to see if there were any mechanical problems and enough life jackets on board. News 12 Connecticut has reported that windy weather and waves may have knocked the boat over.
