A Bridgeport man has been arrested in connection with a violent robbery of a woman at a Milford hotel.
Police say 23-year-old Jonathan Arzu and two other suspects tied up the woman with a phone cord and held a knife to her throat during the robbery at the Howard Johnson hotel on the Post Road in July.
Police say Arzu is wanted for a string of similar robberies of women, all of whom he met through the website backpage.com. They say another similar incident happened at the Holiday Inn Express on Old Gate Lane.
Police have dubbed Arzu as the "Backpage Bandit."
Officials were able to arrest Arzu after his DNA was found at the hotel. They say they are still looking for two others suspects.
Arzu's bond was increased Thursday from $50,000 to $150,000 due to his criminal history.
His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 29.
