Milford police say a man is facing charges for choking his girlfriend and injuring their small child.

The incident was reported around 11 p.m. Sunday at the Red Roof Inn off I-95.

Police say 49-year-old George Byrne choked his girlfriend during a verbal argument at the hotel. They say Byrne grabbed the woman around the neck with his hands and, while moving her around the room, knocked over their 2-year-old child before the woman could get away.

Police say emergency medical staff treated the woman and child at the hotel for minor injuries.
