A man faked a handicap to steal a pricey watch from a jewelry store at the Stamford Town Center Saturday afternoon, according to police.
Police say the suspect came into the Sidney Thomas Jewelry Store in a wheelchair and looked at Rolex watches in a display case. He then allegedly grabbed one and jumped out of the wheelchair, attacking a store employee and security guard with pepper spray before fleeing into the parking garage.
Police say it's clear the wheelchair was being used as a decoy by the suspect.
Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect.
