State police say what was supposed to be a fishing trip ended in tragedy after a man was hit and killed by a car on Interstate 95.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near Exit 41 North.
Police say the victim was a passenger in a pick-up truck with three other people, all from out of state.
According to police, the victim's cellphone fell out of the truck, so the driver pulled over on the right shoulder.
Police say the victim then crossed over all three lanes and found his phone near the median.
According to police, he then stepped into the left lane to return to the truck, when he was hit by an SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene and has not yet been identified.
The driver of the SUV pulled over following the crash and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
Police warn drivers that 911 should be the first call if something like that happens.
