Norwalk police are searching for a gunman who they say shot a man outside of a liquor store last night.
The incident happened at around 9 p.m. Peter Cocchia, the owner of Cocchia's Liquor Store on Ely Street, says the victim, identified by police as 24-year-old Ibo Boone, was leaving his business when someone opened fire on him.
According to police, Boone ran back into the store to seek cover, but the gunman followed him, firing at least three shots that struck the victim in the arm and hip.
Cocchia says there were about six people inside his store at the time of the shooting, but no one was hurt.
The shooting comes a week after someone shot and killed 20-year-old Joseph Bateman in what detectives are calling the latest in a series of back-and-forth violent crimes between rival groups. However, investigators aren't yet sure if Friday's shooting on Ely Street is related.
Boone is expected to recover. He was also reportedly the target of a failed shooting last May.
