A drunken driver did not attempt to slow down his vehicle before it slammed into a patrol car, Bridgeport investigators say.
Authorities say the driver, Michael Cabrera, 25, rear-ended the police vehicle around 1:30 a.m. on East Main Street, which sent two officers to the hospital. Police say Cabrera was not only driving drunk, but he also did not have a driver's license, registration or insurance.
Also on Cabrera's record was an outstanding warrant for failure to pay a traffic ticket, according to authorities.
Investigators concluded that Cabrera made no effort to apply his brakes before making an impact with the patrol car.
Police say Cabrera was also taken to the hospital, but was not seriously injured.
Authorities say that the officers were not seriously injured, either.
