Police say they were on the lookout today for women who left their purses unattended in shopping carts at a Fairfield ShopRite.
Officers would place stickers on purses that were left unattended, and then talk to the shopper about how they could prevent their valuables from being stolen.
Police say these types of crimes occur more frequently around the holidays, when shoppers are more distracted by sales.
Police say one trick shoppers can use to prevent theft is to put the child belt on the cart through the straps of their bag.
