Police have arrested the biological mother of a young boy who was allegedly abandoned in Bridgeport late last month.
Investigators told News 12 a 5-year-old boy with special needs was left abandoned near Burroughs and East Main streets on March 31.
They say they were able to locate his biological mom, 41-year-old Sharon Williams, of Fairfield.
Williams is now facing multiple charges, including risk of injury to a minor. Her bond was set at $250,000.
Police say initially they couldn't identify the boy because he has limited communication skills due to his disability.
Officials turned to social media to help identify the boy.
Police say that the boy is now safe in Connecticut State Department of Children and Families care.
