A Naugatuck man is facing several charges after he was found asleep behind the wheel and then crashed into two police cars, Milford police say.
Police were called to the intersection of Schoolhouse Road and Bridgeport Avenue Wednesday for a report of a man asleep at the wheel.
Officers found Nathan Araujo asleep at the wheel of a Chevy Corvette.
Officers attempted to speak with Araujo, but he reversed his car and hit a police cruiser that was parked behind him.
Araujo then pulled forward and hit a second police cruiser coming toward him, according to authorities.
Officials say he ran away when officers tried to remove him from the car.
Police say an unregistered firearm fell from Araujo, and he was still wearing a holster when police took him into custody.
Araujo is a convicted felon who is prohibited from having a gun.
Officials say a large amount of narcotics believed to be cocaine and Percocet pills were found inside the vehicle.
Araujo faces numerous charges, including evading responsibility with injury, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
He is expected to appear in court on April 23.
