Police are asked the public to avoid an area of Stamford due to an active police investigation.

They say residents and motorists should avoid Oakland Avenue and Dartley Street. There is no danger to the public.

Police told News 12 that a person is barricaded inside 263 Oaklawn Ave. Authorities are attempting to communicate with the person inside through a loudspeaker.

Court records show that property is the subject of a foreclosure, but there is no word about whether that's connected to the current incident.
