Norwalk police are sifting through information to learn what sparked the shooting of a teenager outside Brien McMahon High School.
A 19-year-old was shot outside the school Monday following a basketball game. Police say the victim is from Hartford and was apparently with his cousin, a 25-year-old Norwalk resident.
Norwalk Police Chief Harry Rilling says his department is exploring every possible scenario surrounding the incident, including the possibility the shooter could be a student. According to the chief, the victim's unwillingness to cooperate is stalling the investigation.
"There are lots of rumors flying around," says Rilling. "We find ourselves chasing a lot of dead ends, so we don't know at this point who is responsible for the shooting."
Police are continuing to interview witnesses as well as Brien McMahon students and faculty. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Norwalk police at 203-854-3051.
