Police in Stamford are investigating three shootings over the weekend that sent one person to the hospital and bullets flying through a home.
The first shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Spruce Street.
According to police, Officer Terrell was called to the area and took the victim to the hospital. Police say thanks to Terrell’s quick-thinking actions, a potentially life-threatening situation was likely avoided.
The officer was patrolling the area when a call came in for suspicious activity. When Terrell arrived at the scene, he found the victim had been shot multiple times in the legs and upper torso. Officials say Terrell then put the victim in his police car and took him to the hospital. Police say his action is something that usually doesn't happen too often.
"Due to the proximity to Stamford Hospital and the severity of the wounds, it is pretty uncommon, but based on that information, the officer acted very well and loaded him in the vehicle, got him there and possibly saved his life," says Sgt. Christian DiCarlo.
The victim is listed in stable condition.
Not too long after, police received a call of shots fired into a house on Seaside Avenue.
According to officials, several rounds went through the window into the bedroom. A mother and daughter home at the time ran into different parts of the house and called 911. Police say a vehicle was seen leaving the area. They are in the process of reviewing surveillance video.
Police are also now saying that same home was targeted again Sunday night. They are currently looking into why the house was hit with bullets twice in two days. The family was inside again but not hurt. Police do believe the two incidents are related, but are looking into a motive.
