Stamford police say they arrested a reckless driver this evening after he cut off another car, forcing it to swerve off the roadway and into a lake. The incident happened this afternoon in Cummings Park. Authorities say the driver caused the other car, filled with two adults and a child, to plunge into the water. Robert Divila, who witnessed the crash, says he chased the driver as he fled the scene, wrote down the license plate number and called police. They arrested the man who they say was not carrying identification and does not appear to speak English. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was charged with driving without a license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and risk of injury to a minor. The adults and the child were not seriously injured.
