Police released a 911 tape and photos Thursday, hoping it will help the public lead them to the mother of an abandoned baby in Danbury.
Police say a baby boy was found Sunday night behind the Zaytuna grocery store on Main Street. They believe the baby was only hours old since it still had its umbilical cord attached.
Police say the 911 tape is of a man who seems to be struggling to explain that he is with a baby that is crying and alone.
The baby is in the neonatal unit at Danbury Hospital.
Police say the number one priority is to make sure the mother is OK and gets the medical attention needed after giving birth. They have not said whether the mother would face any criminal charges.
