Stamford police are asking for the public's help to catch the man who they say burglarized two businesses early Tuesday morning.
They have released surveillance video of the burglaries at Summer Corner Variety and Planet Pizza on Summer Street.
Joe Rocco has owned Planet Pizza for 18 years and says he has never been the victim of a crime until now. He says he's thankful the incident was caught on camera.
In the footage, the suspect appears to struggle to open the cash register, even after taking a hammer to it. Police say he appears to be frustrated and then violently rips it from the wall.
Cameras also capture the perpetrator leaving the nearby Summer Corner Variety store, where police believe he stole more than $3,000.
The video zooms in on the suspect to show two distinct tattoos on the back of both hands.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
