Ansonia police gave an update on its five-year investigation into the disappearance of Vanessa Morales on Monday in a social media post:

“The disappearance is still an active investigation, unfortunately after 5 years we are in the same place we were when the investigation began. We do not know what happened to Vanessa, but continue to ask the public for assistance in this investigation, looking for any information that will lead to determining what happened to Vanessa.”

Police found her mother, Christine Holloway, dead inside their home. The baby's father, Jose Morales, is due in court next week where he's facing murder charges over the death of Holloway. According to police, he's also considered a suspect in the baby's disappearance.

The Facebook post included an age-progressed photo of Vanessa. Anyone with information about her disappearance is urged to call 203-735-1885.
