Police say a man accidentally shot himself in the leg at Bow Tie Cinemas in Norwalk during a screening of the horror film “It” Friday night.
Officers arrived at the scene of the Westport Avenue movie theater around 11 p.m.
The man was taken to Norwalk Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The COO of Bow Tie Cinemas says no one else was hurt.
Theater-goers told News 12 that they were scared to learn that it was a gun shot that went off, saying they assumed it was a part of the movie. They realized that was not the case when they saw everybody evacuating.
Bow Tie Cinemas staff say they have a very strict no-weapons policy and are thankful that no other guests or staff were hurt. The movie theater remains open for business.
Police have not disclosed the name of the man who shot himself in the leg. They are still investigating the incident.
