Bridgeport police say they're looking for the man who called 911 Wednesday morning and claimed that someone with a gun was heading for the government center.

The report prompted a lockdown at the Bridgeport's Margaret E. Morton Government Center on Broad Street. Police cordoned off the building, told everyone inside to shelter in place and then searched the facility for a possible gunman. 

The all-clear was sounded at 11:50 a.m., about 40 minutes after police say the 911 call was received.

According to police, the caller had threatened to go to the building and cause harm to people with an assault rifle.

Officials say that Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and his staff were inside the city building at the time. Nobody was injured. 

Authorities say the person who made the threat is a known figure to the Bridgeport Police Department.

Police tell News 12 Connecticut they are still searching for the man they believe was behind the threat. They say there is a pending warrant out for his arrest.
