Police say they’ve arrested a Stamford man who allegedly sexually assaulted a Westport woman that he met online.
The 23-year-old suspect, Ashwin Mathur, is accused of impersonating a police officer when he picked up the woman in Westport on Aug. 8.
The victim says he brought her to the Westport Inn and sexually assaulted her.
Stamford police pulled Mathur over Thursday for a traffic stop and saw that Westport had a warrant out for him.
Mathur was released on $25,000 bond. He is due in court at the end of the month.
