Police have arrested a suspect after five people were shot inside the Brass Mill Shopping Center on Tuesday afternoon, according to Waterbury police.
Police say the gunman, believed to be in his early 20s, shot the victims in the central part of the mall during an argument that escalated.
All victims, over 18, are being treated at a hospital.
Waterbury Chief of Police Fernando Spagnolo commended mall staff and shoppers for their quick actions, which limited the incident’s impact.
Authorities say the suspect likely knew the victims and there is no ongoing threat to the area.
