A woman was shot twice in Bridgeport Friday night, and police now say they are seeking two suspects.
The woman was near the corner of Madison Avenue and George Street when she was shot at around 9:15 p.m., according to police. Officials say her injuries were not life-threatening.
Two men were seen running away from the intersection, investigators say.
Alfredo Esteves, a local business owner, says that the neighborhood has deteriorated since he opened shop in the 1960s.
"It was quiet," he says. "People could walk around safely."
Now, residents say the corner is a hot spot for violence and open-air drug dealing. Police confirm that they have made multiple drug-related arrests at the intersection.
