For tonight expect mostly clear skies and mild conditions with highs near 72 degrees.
Here’s what you need to know:
  • An AIR QUALITY ALERT is in effect 11 a.m. through 11 p.m. tonight. This is for ground level ozone. Sunshine and high heat is bringing elevated pollutants levels to the surface. People in sensitive groups with respiratory issues should reduce strenuous outdoor activities.
  • Our third potential heat wave is underway this week. Yesterday was day one with highs hitting near 90 degrees. Today will be day two.
  • It's a mild, sunny and pleasant start to the day. Temperatures are in the low 70s.
  • Today will be another hot day with hazy sunshine and low humidity. The high
  • Air quality concerns should be monitored through the next couple days due to the high and increasing humidity.
  • The dry stretch continues through tomorrow. There's a chance of a few showers/storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s with heat indices in the mid 90s. Stay tuned for the timing and impacts.
  • There's a celestial event happening in the night sky this month. The Perseid meteor shower peaks Tuesday night into Wednesday early morning bringing up to 100 shooting stars per hour. Sky conditions are expected to be mostly clear with mild temperatures in the 70s.
  • Temperatures fall back to the 80s on Thursday with a chance of rain. Sunshine, warm temperatures and some humidity continues Friday through Sunday.
  • TRACKING THE TROPICS: We're currently monitoring two areas of interest in the Atlantic basin. A Tropical Depression or Storm is likely form in the next 24 hours off the coast of Africa. This tropical system should be watched closely over the next week or so as it could be moving towards the central Atlantic/ Caribbean. The other tropical disturbance has a low chance of further development in the central Tropical Atlantic over the next 7 days. We've already seen four named storms so far this season, with more tropical activity expected now through early October. Stay tuned for updates!
