Over the past three decades, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer's walks have grown into the nation's largest movement.
"It feels great, and I've been doing it every year for about the past 21 years and it's a way to give back," said breast cancer survivor Melanie Turner.
Turner has been cancer free for 21 years and her way of celebrating and giving back to the community is to be a part of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Fairfield County walk every year.
"The event gives us life. It is so exhilarating and it gives us a moment to be supportive," said Shantana Hazel, the founder of Sister Girl Foundation.
"We're all rallying around the importance of prevention, the importance of survivorship," said Daneille Schuka, senior regional manager of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Fairfield County.
