The Professional Bull Riders are bringing the Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour to the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport this weekend, and the show promises "an adrenaline-charged spectacle."
While great seats are still available for tonight and tomorrow, no matter where the action is viewed from, it's easy to appreciate the relationship between rider and bull.
Both the riders and the bulls are trained athletes, and riders like Wyatt Rogers, a 2023 Rookie of the Year finalist, are tasked with staying on the bull for eight seconds.
However, bulls like "My Buddy Taco," are 1,600 pounds of raw power.
"It's like being in a car crash, I would assume," Rogers says. "Your mind slows down whenever you're on top. It's just relying on your instincts."
Rogers says he prepares with core exercises, and bulls are given a special, high-protein diet to ensure that they are at their best when the chute opens up and the clock starts ticking.
Performances take place on Friday, March 1 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Professional Bull Riders website.
