A group of doctors who want to expand Connecticut's abortion shield law testified at the Capitol Friday.

"All patients have the right to accurate information about their reproductive health and to be counseled on the full spectrum of options available," says Savannah Kaszubinski, an OB/GYN.

A proposed bill would shield doctors from disciplinary action if they speak to patients about abortion or gender-affirming care. The bill does not require hospitals to provide abortion care or gender services.

Catholic Hospitals oppose the procedures and say the bill is a direct attack on religious freedom.

"If a hospital is religious and they practice certain beliefs, that they must be allowed to offer something that would go against - completely against the hospital's spiritual beliefs," says state Rep. Anne Dauphinais (R-Killingly).
