A Carteret man is facing charges in the deadly shooting of another Carteret man earlier this month.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office says that 29-year-old Yhakeem Kornegay turned himself in to authorities on Sunday. Kornegay is accused of shooting 27-year-old Malik Pandy and another man while they sat inside a car on May 18.
Pandy was killed and the other man was injured.
News 12 New Jersey obtained surveillance of the shooting that showed a gunman walk up to a black Mercedes that Pandy and the other man were sitting inside and firing multiple shots into the car. That gunman is then seen running away.
Kornegay now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
Anyone who may have additional information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Anthony Ramos of the Carteret Police Department at 732-541-4181 or Detective Ryan Tighe of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4335.
