PSEG Long Island crews say they’re ready to respond to outages resulting from heavy rain and wind

Officials with the PSEG Long Island say there could be some power outages with heavy wind and rain coming toward Long Island.
The storm is set to dump 2 to 4 inches of rain and bring wind gusts upwards of 50 mph.
Crews say they are gearing up to respond but that now is the time for customers to make sure their devices are fully charged.
Larry Torres, manager of emergency preparedness for PSEG, says he is most concerned about the combination of the wind and the rain. He says crews are gearing up to respond as quickly as possible to restore power.
“We have crews scheduled to start reporting tonight through the overnight as well as through the entire day tomorrow,” Torres say.
He said if anyone loses power, they should report it to PSEG Long Island immediately and stay away from downed wires.
Torres say crews are ready to get lights back on as soon as possible.
Seaford resident Claudia says she has lived in the area for nearly 60 years, so she’s been through many storms. Her biggest concern is the water level.
“All day long, heavy rain…the water’s going to come up into the crawl space,” Claudia says. “So that’s scary.”
Other longtime residents of the South Shore say they usually “luck out,” but are just worried about the wind and trees.
