The state Department of Transportation met with Norwalk residents and Mayor Harry Rilling Wednesday to discuss the best way to replace a 120-year-old train bridge.

The Walk Railroad Bridge became stuck in the open position, causing numerous delays and cancellations.

Officials say their goal is to get feedback from the public and develop plans that would provide the best service possible.

"It's obviously the busiest railroad corridor in the country, and so that provides some complexities and difficulties as far as the construction of the project," says James Fallon, of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Officials say they have about 30 percent of the design, and hope to start construction on the bridge in 2018.
