A public meeting was held Tuesday to discuss the redevelopment of the Trumbull Mall and surrounding area.
The meeting included an open dialogue with the team overseeing the Trumbull Mall Area Market Feasibility and Land Use Study.
First Selectman Vicki Tesoro said the study began in January. It includes the mall and surrounding area from the Merritt Parkway to the Bridgeport line and Madison Avenue to Main Street.
As News 12 reported, the former Westfield Mall was sold several months ago. Police said crime involving juveniles is still an issue there. In a recent message to residents, Tesoro said the new mall owners have stepped up security.
Tesoro said the goal of the study is to set a vision for the future and explore redevelopment and investment opportunities.
Tesoro said the area hosts the town's largest taxpayer, 3,000 jobs and many amenities for residents.
