Norwalk health officials are launching a war on the ever-growing population of mosquitoes in southwestern Connecticut.
This week, officials will begin applying larvacide to catch basins across the region.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends spray with DEET to deter mosquitoes. Ray Barret, the manager of Keoughs Hardware Store in Bridgeport, says another top seller is citronella candles and torches.
The Norwalk Health Department says the best way to get rid of mosquitoes is to drain insect breeding grounds like standing water.
