Bridgeport community activist and recent legislative candidate Tony Barr is due in court next week to answer DUI charges in Monroe.
Police say Barr drove for over a mile and kept motioning for the pursuing officer to pass him before finally stopping his car on Route 111 Saturday night.
They say Barr then refused to get out of his car for a half hour and was also uncooperative during the booking process.
Barr recently lost the democratic primary for the 126th House seat in Bridgeport.
