Newly released court documents show that the Fairfield day care operator charged in the death of an infant in her care purchased 90 bottles of Benadryl over 3 ½ years.
Carol Cardillo was arraigned in Bridgeport today. Police say 4-month-old Adam Seagull died of a lethal dose of an antihistamine drug while in her care at an unlicensed day care run out of her home.
The records show Cardillo's purchases, which were mostly flavored for children, included a bottle one week before Seagull died.
In court documents, Cardillo said the boy was a little fussy before his nap but quickly went to sleep on the day he died. She found him unresponsive a couple hours later.
Cardillo is charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a child.
