Tom Wickert says Chris DiMeo chose the death penalty for himself when he gunned down Tim and Kim Donnelly at their jewelry store last February. DiMeo, who is serving a life sentence in New York for killing a Long Island jeweler, was fighting extradition to Connecticut. A judge recently denied his request. While Wickert understands it is unusual for the death penalty to be imposed in Connecticut, he says giving DiMeo another life sentence would amount to his sister and brother-in-law being killed for nothing.
DiMeo could be back in Connecticut by March 6.
