(AP) - Gov. M. Jodi Rell and legislativeleaders have agreed to meet Sunday and attempt to hammer out abudget deal, possibly before the fiscal year ends Tuesday.
Rell, a Republican, says there's still a chance to reach acompromise in time. Rell's remarks came at a media appearance at the home of aNewington family to sign her veto of the Democrats' two-yearbudget, which was approved Friday. Her veto will not be officialuntil she receives the bill, possibly on Monday.
She is calling the Democrats' plan unbalanced, unaffordable andunfinished. The majority Democrats, meanwhile, appeared at the Life Staremergency medical landing pad at Hartford Hospital to stress theircontinued support for key programs. Rell's original budget had cutsome funding for the helicopters.
